A new course record at Nicklaus´ latest masterpiece in Europe

New course record holder Lasse Sonne Nielsen- 61 today

New course record holder Lasse Sonne Nielsen- 61 today

Normally golfers would be happy with an albatross in golf, the “rare bird” most golfers never get to see, however this type of bird was one of many as young amateur Lasse Sonne Nielsen from Denmark today. Lasse holed a 6 iron into the par 5 13th hole for a 2 and that seemed to kick start his day which inlcuded 6 birdies and another holed second shot but this time into the 5th (his back nine) for an eagle. His 61 is his personal best and what a course to do it on. Condado de Alhama  a signature course from the great Jack Nicklaus officially had its first professional event today. With his 61 Nielsen now enjoys a 7 shot margin over Stephen Grant from Ireland.

In the seniors division it was last weeks winner David James shooting a fine 63 to hold a 5 shot lead over former european tour player Kevin Dickens.

In the ladies division it was Elin Emanuelsson from Sweden firing a fine 69 , she enjoys a 9 shot lead over Tilly Magill from England and Josefin Leijon also from Sweden.
