The final round of the Hacienda Riquelme Open saw ideal scoring conditions which produced 2 course records on the Jack Nicklaus layout. In the ladies division it was Monica Christiansen from Denmark who lead from start to finish firing a final round and new ladies course record of 69 to end the event at +1 for the three days. In second position was Sandra Carlborg from Sweden only 2 shots behind at +3.
In the seniors division it was newly “seniorised” David James of Scotland who dominated the field with a 9 shot margin of victory. Finishing second was Stephen Shields from England at +2 over the three rounds. In third was Kevin Dickens of England at +4.
The mens division saw local spanish hero Dani Alonso fire another fine round of 67 to end the event at -7 over the three rounds and edging out Lloyd Saltmann of Scotland who fired a brilliant and new mens course record of 66. In third position was Gary King of England at -3. Top amateurs both finishing at +4 were Lasse Sonne Nielsen of Denmark and Richard Carter of England.
All players spoke highly of the quality of the experience of being at Polaris World who are rightly famous as a premier golf destination in Europe with their famous Jack Niclaus golf trail.
Pictures to follow.
